Korean airlines to fly to Palau

The Palau delegation recently flew to Seoul to meet with the Korean officials regarding the air service pact.

The agreement allows for up to seven passenger flights and four cargo flights per week.

According to a statement from the President’s Office, two Korean carriers will be servicing the route.

The statement said that decisions regarding how many flights to schedule will be left up to the airlines.

Korean and Asiana airlines boast global operations.

The agreement is expected to be finalized within a couple of months.

The statement further added that the agreement will be offering other advantages to Palau though training and other technical assistance to Palau’s aviation officials in the area of safety and security.

The statement added that cooperation in such areas as marketing and airport operations is authorized.

The statement also stressed that the two nations will also be discussing Korean investment in Palau.

The delegation was headed by Minister of Commerce and Trade Otoichi Besebes, who was accompanied by Del. Jonathan Isechal, Chairman of the House of Delegates Committee of Commerce, Banking, Insurance and Investment, Jose Ise, Acting Administrator of the Palau National Aviation Administration and David Shipper , Legal Counsel to the President.

“We consider this to be an extremely positive development for Palau,” Besebes said in a statement.
