Lee is expected to leave Palau on August 1 and he will be replaced by the new envoy Maggie Tien.
In a statement sent to media entities said that his past 20 months in Palau has been fruitful.
“Although my official term in Palau has been brief, I gave my very best effort to develop and create significant, meaningful, mutually beneficial, active, and continuous cooperative projects for Palau by combining cooperation and resources from both our government and numerous private sectors as well,” Lee said.
Lee will be the Chief of Protocol for the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan.
Lee said with the 20 months that he was in Palau he has witnessed the signing of the Sister Hospital Agreement, Referral Service Agreement , Kupao Baseball Team, reinstatement of direct air transportation between Palau and Taiwan and many others.
In the statement , he also thanked the government for the cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
“My official term here in Palau may have been brief, but the experiences of my encounters are most significant and memorable,” Lee further added.
Tien, Lee’s replacement is highly experienced and she was formerly the Consul General in Sidney, Australia and Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.
Lee first served as Taiwan Ambassador in Palau in December of 2006, prior to that he was ambassador of Latvia.
Lee holds an executive NBA, College of Management, National Taiwan University and he also holds a master degree and bachelor’s degree in diplomacy at the National Chengchi University of Taiwan.
