Toribiong and Mariur gathered at least 1,763 signatures from supporters in and outside Palau.
“We are filing the petition in behalf of the needy, unemployed , the sick and the downtrotten,” Toribiong said.
He added that the signatures were collected from different areas in Palau.
The two candidates were accompanied by their wives, Mrs. Valeria Andres Toribiong and Mrs. Laurinda Waisang Mariur.
Toribiong was the first to announce his candidacy but did not announce the name of his running mate much later.
So far, three presidential hopefuls have filed their candidacies , they were Joshua Koshiba and running mate, and Elias Camsek Chin and Toribiong.
The primary is set on Sept. 23 while the filing of nominating petitions is on August 6.
Presidential candidate Surangel Whipps Sr. is yet to file his petition.
He said that he will be announcing the name of his running mate by July 30.
