The 2010 CNMI Cares Statewide Planning Grant Project is under the CNMI Library Council.
NMI State Library executive director John O. “Bolis” Gonzales said the appointed task force members were Lino Olopai, Refaluwasch traditional leader and cultural practitioner; Susanna Blas Deleon Guerrero, CNMI Women’s Association president; Agnes M. McPhetres, Northern Marianas College president Emeritus and educational pioneer; Herman “Jun Pan” Guerrero, genealogist and past chairman of NMI Museum board of governors; Herbert S. Del Rosario, retired archivist; cultural practitioners Joseph Ruak, Herman Tudela Jr., John S. Castro Jr., and Cinta M. Kaipat, J.D.; and Fr. Ryan Jimenez, apostolic administrator, Diocese of Chalan Kanoa.
On April 18, Gonzales said they conducted the CNMI Cares focus group meeting at the Tinian Municipal Public Library. They conducted the same meeting at the Antonio C. Atalig Memorial Public Library on Rota the following day.
On Wednesday, the focus group meeting was conducted at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in Susupe.
Tomorrow, another focus group meeting will be at the same venue from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the CNMI Association of Archives, Libraries & Museums or CAALM, Inc.
The community focus group will gather information and data and develop plans to preserve the cultural heritage collections of the islands.
