They flew to Guam where they were scheduled to board a 6:50 p.m. flight to Palau.
Villagomez, Covenant-Saipan, was given an “extended” invitation by the Association of Pacific Island Legislatures to its five-day 30th General Assembly at the Palau Capitol in Melekeok.
The other members of the CNMI delegation are Vice Speaker Felicidad T. Ogumoro, Covenant-Saipan; Senate Floor Leader Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan; Sen. Jovita M. Taimanao, Ind.-Rota; House Minority Leader Diego T. Benavente. R-Saipan; Reps. Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero, R-Saipan; Tony P. Sablan, R-Saipan; Ralph S. Demapan, Covenant-Saipan; Legislative Bureau Director Glenna SP. Reyes, House legal counsel Joe Taijeron; legislative assistants BJ Attao and Anthony Aguon.
Ogumoro heads the delegation to APIL. She and Senate Floor Leader Reyes are APIL board members representing the CNMI’s Legislature.
APIL paid for the vice speaker’s $150 per diem allowance. The $300 plus plane ticket came from her discretionary fund.
Mrs. Reyes paid for her own trip. The rest of the LB got $150 per diem each.
Ogumoro defended the trip saying it is a very important event tackling pressing issues that people of Micronesia are now facing.
The CNMI still owes APIL $20,000 in annual dues for fiscal years 2010 and 2011.
