The new officers, nine of whom are from Saipan and three from Tinian, were sworn into office by Supreme Court Associate Justice Alexandro C. Castro during their graduation at the multi-purpose center in Susupe on Friday.
CPA Executive Director Efrain F. Camacho, in his message, welcomed the new officers and commended them for finishing a grueling four months of training.
“Your decision to join the ports police force indicates your desire to serve the community and you will be trusted to protect lives as well as property,” Camacho said.
He reminded the new ports police officers to always uphold the code of ethics no matter what the circumstances are.
Ports Police Chief Pius M. Helgen welcomed the new officers and reminded them of the responsibility of providing safety and security at all of CNMI’s airports and seaports.
“Always be prepared to face the challenges of your job,” Helgen said.
The new CPA police officers underwent training under various instructors in officer survival, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid, report writing, evidence preservation, courtroom demeanor, seaport rules and regulations, cruise terminal and airport security program, airport and seaport patrol techniques, search and seizure.
They attended lectures on firearms, history of law enforcement, theft law, use of force, weapons violations and other related topics.
The 10th cycle ports police graduates from Saipan are Alvin Iguel Blas, Jason Dean Cabrera Cruz, Jenner Rogolofoi Lisua, Christopher Torres Macabenta, Juliano Senior Matsutaro, Adrian Tudela Mendiola, Ramsey Hadley Rosario, Kenneth Teregejo Taitingfong and Marvin Laniyo Tebit.
The three new officers from Tinian are Joseph Cabuang Cruz Jr., Carl Trance Cepeda and Joseph Piloto Untalan.
Taingtingfong was the 10th cycle’s valedictorian while the salutatorian was Cepeda.
The top gun award went to Mendiola while Cruz Jr. received the physical fitness award.
The top five academic awardees Mendiola, Cruz Jr., Lisua, Macabenta and Tebit.
The marksmanship award went to Untalan, Jason Cruz, Lisua, Taingtingfong, Macabenta and Tebit.
The runners-up for the physical fitness award were Untalan and Tebit.
