The  checks, according to SHEFA, are for the grant-in-aid assistance of 62 on-island and 62 off-island students.

SHEFA Administrator Henry Hofschneider on Friday reported to the board that they received 470 applications as of Dec. 1.

These included 90 new on-island, 20 new off-island, 245 on-going on-island and 114 on-going off-island students.

Jeff Tomokane, the former acting administrator, reported that 117  new and 113 on-going recipients for the grant-in-aid were awarded scholarships as of Dec. 10.

He said 55 new off-island recipients and 214 off-island on-going recipients were also awarded scholarships.
