13-day jail sentence in domestic violence case

In his judgment and commitment order, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja sentenced the 28-year-old Ilo with one year imprisonment, all suspended except for 13 days with credit for time served.

“If [Ilo] commits another act of domestic violence during his term of probation…he shall be subject to revocation and sentenced to a minimum of three months in jail without possibility of parole,” Naraja said.

On Nov. 7, 2009, Ilo assaulted his wife Joeleen Tudela Camacho with a can of beer, the prosecution said.

Ilo was required to write a letter of apology to his victims: his two children and wife.

Ilo was required to pay a $25 court assessment fee within 30 days, a $100 probation fee payable within 10 months, a $100 fine payable within 10 months, and to complete 100 hours community work service.

Ilo will not possess or consume any alcohol or drugs during the one year probation, and to obey all federal and CNMI laws.

Chief Prosecutor Michael Ernest represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller served as counsel for Ilo.
