‘My dad is beating up my mom and I need help’

A 911 dispatcher received this emergency call from a female minor on Thursday morning.

The caller was crying out loud for help.

The call, which came from a residence in Ginalangan area, led to the arrest of Faustino Kodil Takeshi, 48, who is being held on charges of assault, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Minutes after the emergency call, Police Officer Francis B. Manglona arrived at the Takeshi residence and met the victim, Merkii Takeshi, who was crying, had bloodstains on the front of her wrinkled shirt and was not wearing slippers.

Sgt. Jonathan DLC. Garces said the victim was already sleeping when her husband arrived, and started squeezing her shoulder area hard.

“Faustino punched her on the mouth and her back several times” after the victim stood up and moved away from her husband, Garces said.

The victim tried to escape but her husband pulled her hair back into the room where she was beaten up, Garces said.

The victim later escaped but the husband caught her on the road leading to the Station of the Cross in Ginalangan area, where the husband continued beating her up.

The children tried to calm down their father but the son in turn earned the ire of his father.

The mother and her children later returned home, and called for police assistance.

At their home, police said Faustino Takeshi told the children, “That’s why I punched your mom cause when I drink your mom always run away.”

Faustino further told police that he kicked his wife while he was eating in the kitchen.

During his initial appearance yesterday, Superior Court Associate Kenneth L. Govendo retained the $10,000 cash bail earlier set by Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja.

Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller was appointed as  Takeshi’s defense attorney.

Govendo remanded Takeshi to the custody of the Department of Corrections after he failed to post bail.
