Island Medical Center and Saipan Health Clinic say they will continue to accept all patients despite Hawaii Pacific Medical Referrals’ announcement that these two clinics are no longer participating providers for the government’s Group Health and Life Insurance Plan.
But Art Moore, Island Medical Center administrator, said they would still welcome patients with government insurance.
He said these patients would either need to pay upfront or be allowed to make a payment arrangement with the clinic.
“We continue to provide the same quality services for our clients. We don’t want people to have the impression that just because we are a non-participating provider for the GHLI plan, we will not welcome these patients,” Moore said.
Dr. Vicente Aldan of the Saipan Health Clinic said the clinic has already established itself as one of the best providers of medical care, and this would not change despite HPMR’s announcement.
Saipan Health Clinic and Island Medical Center did not sign a contract with HPMR due to contract provisions they described as unfair and disadvantageous to them.
As a result, HPMR did not include these two clinics on the list of participating providers for the GHLI plan.
The list includes the Commonwealth Health Center, Pacific Medical Center, PacifiCare, Marianas Eye Institute, Marianas Medical Center and Saipan Seventh Day Adventist Clinic.
In related news, Regina Ann C. Torres, HPMR operations manager, is encouraging all current subscribers of GHLI to fill up and complete a new enrollment form to continue their coverage under the program.
