20-year-old arrested for consuming alcohol

On Feb. 17, shortly after  midnight, police received a disturbance call at Koblerville Housing No. K3.

Responding Police Officer Flor Estabillo met a male individual who escorted him into a house, where he met a female individual, later identified as Vanessa Malitha.

Before the officer could talk to her, the defendant ran and exited the door.

Malitha then turned and slapped Estabillo on his back and pushed him, according to Detective Peter Aldan.

Other patrol units responded and assisted Estabillo in subduing Malitha who was “very belligerent and combative.”

During transport to the Department of Corrections facility, Malitha kicked the officer driving the police car.

Police plastic-cuffed her feet to subdue her.

Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed $2,500 cash bail on Malitha who is being held on charges of minor consuming alcohol, assault and battery, and resisting arrest.

She was remanded to Corrections custody after her initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday.
