The Marianas Visitors Authority said it worked with local tour operators to coordinate corporate travel by several large companies in Seoul and Busan, bringing in 1,950 business-oriented travelers since March 2.
Most of the travelers attended employee training, while a small number came on a consumer rewards trip.
Companies arriving via MICE travel packages included R’Chance, KFG, World Total License, Lotte Duty Free Shop, IF, Kumho Life and Shinhan Life.
“MICE travel has growth potential for the Northern Marianas,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “The MICE market is heavily dependent on a source country’s economic health, which is part of the reason we have been able to attract more tours from Korea as that country’s economy recovers from the worldwide recession. We look forward to more of the same as the year progresses.”
MVA supported the MICE trips with island tours, Korean guidebooks, and welcome leis and pins.
