22 students complete master’s program

Instructed by Dr. Michele Andolina, Cohort 8 holds the honor of being the first group to graduate under the name of Framingham State University, formerly known as Framingham State College.

Interim president of the Northern Mariana College, Lorraine Cabrera, gave the opening remarks.

Cabrera said she was immensely proud of the hard work Cohort 8 had displayed.

“After all the sleepless nights of studying and working at the same time, you all have finally made it!” said Cabrera.

All of the students currently hold jobs and/or have families. Cabrera said she was impressed and proud of their dedication toward higher education.

Currently off-island, Commissioner of Education Dr. Rita Sablan, relayed her message to Cohort 8 via video. Sablan commended the graduates, who include those working for the Public School System, on their achievement.

“Now that you’ve achieved your very own master’s degree in education, I want you to know that you are more than an added value  to the world of education,” Sablan said. “You now have the educational knowledge, experience and skills needed to improve and strengthen our educational system in the commonwealth.”

With over 200 spectators, the graduating class of 2011 said they were touched by the immense support they had received from family, friends and colleagues.
