Tyce Mister, Marianas High School teacher and event coordinator, said the event will be a great opportunity to recruit “awesome” students for internships.
Last year’s fair drew the participation of 34 companies and agencies.
This year’s fair will be held at the Saipan World Resort from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 19.
Students will be encouraged to ask questions about the activities of the companies and agencies.
Participating students will include seniors from the Cooperative Education and Training Program of MHS, Kagman High School and Saipan Southern High School.
The program, sometimes called “Co-Op,” is designed to help prepare students for the job market.
The program allows students to gain work experience by participating as a “trainee” at an off-campus business organization.
The fair aims to expose high school students to a variety of careers in the CNMI.
Mister said students are encouraged to do three interviews with different companies.
“After the interview, the business has the choice to offer a training position or not; just by offering an interview does not mean the business is obligated to train the student,” he said. “Furthermore, just by training the student does not mean you are obligated to offer a position after graduation.”
This year’s participating companies and agencies are the Commonwealth Development Authority, the CNMI Supreme Court, the Commonwealth Ports Authority, Delta Management, the Department of Public Health, the Division of Environmental Quality, the Hyatt Regency Saipan, iConnect, JC Tenorio Enterprises, Joeten Motors, Joeten’s Ace Hardware, the Law Revision Commission, Louis Vuitton Saipan, Mariana Resort, the Marianas Visitors Authority, NMC-Admissions & Records, NMHC, Office of Adult Probation, CNMI Superior Court, Pacific Islands Club, PSS-HRO, PTI, Saipan Grand Hotel, Saipan World Resort, Saipan Zoo, Sorenson Media, Tan Holdings Corp., and Triple J Group of Companies.
