3 burglary, criminal mischief suspects arrested

POLICE arrested three persons who allegedly threatened to hire the Yakuza to kill a businessman and damage his restaurant in Garapan.

Arrested were Shunji Tsuchihashi, 38, Hideki Furuta, 39, and Zhao Ju Huang, 30. They were held for burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Pete C. Muna said the victim, Yang Hun Lee, 51, owns J. Lee Investment Establishment.

Muna said the suspects were Lee’s acquaintances.

Investigation showed that a tenant called Lee on the telephone, informing him that Furuta broke the main door of the restaurant.

Tsuchihashi allegedly tried to remove some items from the establishment.

Lee went to the establishment and saw Furuta allegedly breaking the neon lighting fixtures. The businessman then called 911.

Lee told the police that sometime last February, Furuta was evicted from the building.

Since then, Furuta’s belongings remained with Lee in the establishment based on their “business agreement.”

The victim said since then, Furuta had been giving him and his tenants “problems.” Furuta, he said, would come to the place and try to claim the property.

Lee said he learned from one of his tenants that Furuta threatened them that he would hire the Yakuza to kill Lee and the tenants.

Furuta’s girlfriend, Zhao, also allegedly threatened the tenant.

Zhao allegedly said “gangsters will shoot the tenant and Lee and then burn their bodies.”

The case was placed under further investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
