The three teachers are from Saipan Southern High, Oleai Elementary and Chacha Oceanview Junior High schools.
The other resignations were from the following: Kagman High School, six; William S. Reyes, five; Hopwood, five; Tinian High School, three; two each from Dandan, Gregorio T. Camacho, and Kagman Elementary; and one each from Marianas High School, Rota High School, SSHS, San Vicente, and the special education program.
Of the 34, many are highly qualified teachers — Praxis compliant, degree holders and certified.
PSS has 515 classroom teachers of whom 365 are considered highly qualified. The rest are still in the process of completing the HQT requirements.
Every year, PSS loses about 80 employees due to retirement and resignation.
At least three PSS personnel are scheduled to retire this year.
PSS is now recruiting new teachers for the coming school year.
Majority of the 12 elementary education graduates of Northern Marianas College want to work for PSS.
Teachers have two-year contracts with PSS.
