30 days for assault

Inos originally sentenced Langu to one year imprisonment, all suspended except for 30 days, with credit for four days served at the Department of Corrections facility.

The court directed Langu to report to Corrections on Oct. 1 to complete her remaining 26-day jail sentence.

She will be placed on two years’ probation after her release from prison.

Langu admitted the charge of assault and battery.

On April 7, 2011, Langu assaulted her victim with a knife and plastic chair, and in the presence of a child, the prosecution said. Langu also broke the door of the victim’s residence.

Langu’s relationship with the victim was not disclosed.

The court told Langu not to have any contact with her victim, except through the Adult Probation Office, the court, or her attorney for the limited purpose of child support.

Langu will pay $400 in restitution to her victim, and a $25 court assessment fee.

She will complete 100 hours of community work service.

Langu will not possess or consume alcohol during her probation period.

She will attend and complete anger management counseling at the Community Guidance Center. She will also submit to alcohol and drug assessment, and complete any treatment recommended.

As part of the plea agreement, other charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief, and disturbing the peace filed against Langu were dismissed as moved by the prosecution.

Chief Prosecutor Michael Ernest represented the government, while Langu was represented by attorney Joseph N. Camacho.
