Last Saturday, 33 Filipino workers completed the four sessions of the culinary arts class offered by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office through the Philippine Consulate General Office.
Coronejo, who has been teaching cooking classes since last year, received a certificate of appreciation and recognition for his dedicated service to his fellow Filipino workers.
He was named one of the 10 outstanding Filipino workers on Saipan in 2001.
Philippine Consul General Wilfredo DL Maximo said the skill imparted to the participants of the class is something they can use once they decide to go back to their native country and set up a business.
“This course will not be possible without the enthusiasm of the instructor,” Maximo said after the mini-food competition at the Filipino Workers Resource Center at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
Maximo, CNMI Assistant Attorney General Eleonor Nisperos and Tan Holdings vice president Ely Arago were the judges during the competition.
Group 5 led by William B. Tanghal, the president of the culinary arts class batch 6, got the first prize.
The judging was based on presentation, taste, creativity and cooking time.
The competition was witnessed by Labor Representative Lourdes D. Lavilla, Welfare Officer Leonor C. Mabagal and the staff of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office.
