THE 4th Annual Christmas Art Bazaar is set for Friday, Dec. 13 at the Multi-purpose Center in Susupe from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The bazaar is a yearly gathering of artists and handicraft makers. Its organizer, Leila Staffler, describes the event as a “more intimate, indoor Flame Tree Arts Festival without the performance art and entertainment.”
With Christmas around the corner, Staffler said “unique treasures” are awaiting buyers.
“There will be people selling handcrafted items,” she said. “There are a few different crochet artists that make figurines to blankets to macramé. There are several jewelry makers who use a variety of materials from spondylus to resin. And there will be painters and some specialty food items.”
Staffler said the featured artists this year are Arahs Yarn, Banidosu Shells, Designer Wreath & Co., Uchanesti, Creations, Monika’s Treasures, Jeanne’s Paintings, Nai’s Creations, Marianas Homeland, Cherrymoon Co., Isla Krafty Corner, FJ Photography, Bibi’s Crafts, Kreative Giftery, Merias Crochet, Weavings, Made by Hand, madebyalmay, Islandry670, Aofia’s, Veronica Arriola Pottery, Saipan Sand, Toki Mojica, and Sue Castro Cabrera.
Each vendor will be responsible for their own exchange medium, so some vendors may be accepting PayPal, Venmo or cash.
“Please come support your local artists and check out this event,” Staffler said. “Every year is different, but it’s definitely easier each year because more and more artists hear about it and want to join in the future so finding artists is not a problem at all. I try to connect them with the DCCA Arts Council if they aren’t already registered. I am grateful for the support of the community who want events like this but don’t want to only wait once a year for the Flame Tree Art Festival.”
Staffler gave a special mention to Rep. John Paul Sablan who is assisting with the logistics for the bazaar.
