$6.4M road project to begin this week

Reyes said the government awarded the project to Hawaiian Rock Products Corporation, and retained Hofschneider Engineering LLC, to serve as the project’s construction manager.

He said the project includes excavation and backfilling, constructing subbase and base courses, laying hot asphaltic concrete pavement with dense graded anti-skid pavement, pavement markings, shoulders and drainage facilities.

Driveway connections, installation of signal system and traffic signage necessary are also included in the project.

A project coordinator has been assigned to ensure the smooth completion of the project envisioned to be completed by Jan. 19, 2011.

Department of Public Works Secretary Diego Songsong said their team will ensure the quality and timely construction of the federally funded road project.

“After assembling a project team, we are very pleased to see this much anticipated project finally start and infuse fresh cash into our economy,” he said.
