7 kids burnt to death

PORT MORESBY (Pacnews) — In Papua New Guinea’s Enga province, seven school boys have been burnt to death when their house was engulfed by fire at the weekend.

The boys, aged between 10 and 16 from four different families, lived in the Liop Council Ward outside Laiagam district.

The boys had returned from a political rally and were fast asleep when the fire, which started at around 11 a.m. on May 18 razed their house to the ground.

Villagers held a mass burial for the seven boys on May 19.

Parents and relatives who were at the funeral said they could not establish the cause of the fire. In a similar incident in the Enga province last week another boy of about ten years old was burnt to death by fire in Takales village near the provincial capital, Wabag.
