IT is that time of the year when the biggest fruits, healthiest bulls, finest betel nuts and all other locally grown and bred produce and animals are on display.
Tomorrow, the 23rd Annual Saipan Agricultural Fair will once again bring together local farmers, ranchers, businessmen and more than a thousand individuals.
The Saturday fair will be held at the 4-H Pavilion in Susupe from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the Department of Lands and Natural Resources.
DLNR and the Saipan Agricultural Fair Association are the main sponsors for the day-long event.
Marianne C. Teregeyo, DLNR spokeswoman, said one of the things that will make this year’s agricultural fair different from the previous ones is the active participation of the CNMI Food and Nutrition Council.
“The council would be having a demonstration on how to prepare and cook nutritious food and healthy desserts from locally grown products,” said Teregeyo.
Sabalu Market vendors will also join in the agricultural fair.
Cooked food, raw fruits and vegetables, clothes, houseware and other souvenir items will also be sold during the event.
Teregeyo said interested farmers and ranchers still have until Friday night to register.
