A pledge of unity, a promise of victory

During the meeting yesterday, GOP President Ed Tenorio presented the copy of the ballot that will be used in the open primary on June 27.

Rep. Heinz S. Hofschneider, running mate Speaker Arnold I. Palacios,  former Gov. Juan N. Babauta and running mate Board of Education member Galvin S. Deleon Guerrero declared their commitment to ensure party unity after the primary.

They signed a declaration that stated: “I do hereby pledge our commitment to rally and support the winning candidate of this Republican Party open primary election.”

Babauta said he, Deleon Guerrero and their committee have formulated a platform that will be presented to voters.

Whatever the outcome of the primary, he said they will turn over their platform to the party leadership and general membership who can then make the necessary adjustments.

He hopes that this process will ensure that the party gets inputs from both camps.

Hofschneider said both teams are bonded by the same principles.

As they shook hands, Babauta and Hofschneider said yesterday’s unity meeting should wipe away any doubts or rumors that some individuals may be spreading in the community.

Let there be no doubt that the losing team in the primary will ask its  supporters and families to stick with the winning Republican tandem, the two gubernatorial candidates said.

“There’s not even an inkling of a doubt that the GOP is going to win in November and the only way that the GOP will win is to pledge our unequivocal commitment to one another,” they added.
