In a press briefing on KKMP radio, the governor said he received a letter from IPI on Aug. 11 explaining why it could not pay the license fee. “It’s because of all of the challenges that they’re facing, as well as the pandemic,” the governor said.
He noted that the casino has been closed since March of this year, and no tourists are expected to visit the island anytime soon.
“Nevertheless, I spoke with [the] attorney general regarding that issue and we’ll be coming up with a course of action,” Torres said.
He added that the AG will take the lead “on what action can be taken and what action should be taken.”
“We’ll keep you posted on that issue,” he said.
