THE Department of Public Safety has identified a 45-year-old female, an active member of the U.S. Air Force currently deployed to Tinian, as the victim of a drowning incident.
In an official statement on Monday, acting DPS Public Information Officer and Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop stated that on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at 2:46 p.m., the Tinian Department of Public Safety received a report of a drowning at Chulu Beach.
“Preliminary reports indicated that three U.S. Air Force personnel were snorkeling at the beach when one of them was observed in distress,” Manacop said. “A companion rushed to assist the victim and helped bring her to shore, where CPR was administered until first responders arrived.”
The victim was transported to the Tinian Health Center, where she was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m.
“Investigators from DPS Tinian and personnel from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations are currently investigating the incident,” Manacop added.
