Park Ranger Nancy Kelchner said they are targeting to put up 2×4 solar panels within this month.
“We hope to have the project started soon and finished by May so we can save on energy,” Kelchner said.
With solar panels installed, they don’t have to turn on all the lights in the building during the daytime, she added.
Two months ago, the park also installed a second set of glass doors at the Visitor Center to trap the cool air inside the building.
Kelchner said before the double doors were installed, they were spending more on electricity for the air-conditioning units to keep the building cool.
She said before, the cool air escaped under the front glass doors.
Kelchner is also inviting the community to join the celebration of the National Park Week which from April 18 until the 26th.
Kelchner said American Memorial Park will be joining National Park Week celebration which is done annually to recognize national and state parks, national monuments, and historic sites in the United States.
“We have a series of activities for the whole community and we are inviting everybody to join us,” Kelchner said.
