Duenas, the winner for the sales category, was nominated by her manager Carolina Techur.

Duenas is an excellent sales associate who tries her best to communicate with customers of all kinds of nationalities to find their needs. With her high standard knowledge of Polo Ralph Lauren merchandise, she serves customers with dedication.

Duenas has been with DFS since March 2006.

Camacho, the winner for the support category, was recommended by his manager, Mariano Fajardo.

Camacho is an alert and quick learner with positive attitude, and in a short period he has enhanced his knowledge about loss prevention and alarm systems.

He supports the company’s events and other community projects DFS involved devotedly to show team spirit.

Camacho was hired in April 2008.

Both employees received a framed employee of the month certificate, a $100 cash award, and VIP parking for one month.

They are now eligible candidates for 2008 DFS employee of the year award in their respective categories.

Green flag on Tinian, Managaha

(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality has analyzed samples collected from Tinian’s recreational beaches and storm water drainages, as well as Managaha’s recreational beaches and dock as part of the regularly scheduled sampling.

None of the samples collected contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria nor did they exceed the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.

DEQ assigns all of the sampled beach sites a green flag.

DEQ cautions public about open burning

(DEQ) — Any open burning is the responsibility of the person owning, operating, or managing the property, premises, business establishment, or industry where the open burning is occurring. Under no circumstances is open burning of trash allowed, according to the Division of Environmental Quality.

Violators may receive notices of violation or administrative orders with penalties, if caught burning trash.

Allowed:

The burning of organic matter, including leaves, grass, weeds, paper, or wood which has not been painted with lead paint or treated with insecticides or pesticides is allowed in small quantities. However, this material must not exceed 25 pounds or 27 cubic feet, whichever is smaller. This burning activity must be started and completed between 9 am and 6 pm; be attended or supervised by an adult; and not be performed within fifty feet of any habitable building.

Allowed with DEQ approval:

Other allowable burning activities include fires for the cooking of food or for recreational, decorative, or ceremonial purposes. Certain other limited types of burning, such as for the control of pests or diseases or to abate a fire hazard is allowed, if approved by DEQ.

Allowed, with DEQ approved permit:

Person engaged in agriculture may engage in burning only after obtaining an agricultural burning permit from DEQ. Agricultural burning cannot include inorganic waste or organic waste contaminated with pesticides.

Not allowed:

Burning of trash and other non-organic wastes.

Shell lowers fuel price, again

 

(Shell Inc.) — Eloy Lizama, president of Shell Marianas, announced yesterday that for the third time this month, they will lower the price of Shell unleaded, Shell V Power gasoline and Shell diesel fuel.

The price decrease was posted at Shell service stations as of midnight Wednesday.

The price of Shell regular unleaded will be reduced by 30 cents a gallon; Shell V Power, by 15 cents; and Shell diesel by 30 cents.
