This year’s theme is, “Our Environment is Our Home. Let’s Keep it Safe and Clean.”
Kicking off the month-long festivities is the proclamation signing, which will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at 10 a.m. in the conference room at the Office of the Governor, Capital Hill.
The Environmental Expo will be held on Wednesday, April 1, from 8 a.m. until 12 noon at the Joeten Kiyu Public Library.
A second expo will be on Tuesday, April 21, at the Kagman Community Center also from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.
Other events slated for the environmental awareness month include a recycling contest, an island-wide cleanup, a lagoon cleanup, a scuba cleanup, and an essay competition.
Schools, most especially are encouraged to inquire about the DEQ lab tour and environmental presentations available throughout April and May.

NMC English, math placement test schedule
(NMC) — Northern Marianas College will be conducting English and math placement tests on the following dates:
English:
• April 28 – Tuesday, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Room D-1
• April 29 – Wednesday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Room D-1
• May 14 – Thursday, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Room D-1; 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Room D-1
Math:
• May 19 – Tuesday, 10 a.m. -12 noon, Room D-1; 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Room D-1
• May 21 – Thursday, 10 a.m.-12 noon, Room D-1
Those who wish to take the test must bring a valid photo ID — driver’s license, passport or school ID — and pencils. No admittance to the testing room will be allowed after the starting time.
There is a $25 fee each for the English and math placement Tests that must be paid in advance at the NMC cashier.
No one will be allowed into the testing room without proof of payment — a receipt for either the placement test fee or the NMC application fee.
Payment for the application fee will cover the English placement test fee.
