APAFS will be holding the 2nd Annual Palau Country Conference on Friday May 1, at the Ngarayameyong Cultural Center.
An APAFS Country Conference is a one-day affair that provides educational sessions on topics specifically requested by members in their respective jurisdictions.
The topics and session leaders for this year’s Palau Country Conference include:
• The Prudent Process: Managing Fiduciary Responsibility
• The Effect of the Economic Crisis on Retirement Plans in the Region
• Asia Pacific Association for Fiduciary Studies — Update on our Mission
• Financial Crisis on a Global Scale
• Domestic and International Capital Markets Outlook
NMC Charter Day competitions briefing
(NMC) — In anticipation of NMC’s Charter Day on May 8, the Charter Day Entertainment Committee will be conducting briefings and auditions/rehearsals for various competitions and events, which include Marianas Idol, Battle of the Bands and CNMI’s Best Dance Crew.
Individuals interested in competing in the upcoming Charter Day competitions are strongly encouraged to attend the pre-competition briefings on the following dates:
• April 23 for Marianas Idol, 5 p.m. at the Student Center in Bldg. J
• April 24, for Battle of the Bands, 5 p.m. at the Student Center in Bldg. J
• April 25, for CNMI’s Best Dance Crew, 10 a.m. at the Student Center in Bldg. J
The scoring rubric and other regulations will be discussed.
The NMC Charter Day Entertainment Committee will also be holding auditions/rehearsals on the following days:
• May 4, for Marianas Idol, 5-8 p.m. in Room D-1
• May 5, for CNMI’s Best Dance Crew, 5-8 p.m. in Room D-1
• May 6, for Battle of the Bands, 5-8 p.m. in Room D-1

Magic comes to Guam
(Couture Marketing) — Couture Marketing has added “The Magic of Anthony Reed” to its growing portfolio of clients in the Micronesia region.
One may recognize Anthony Reed as a contestant and finalist on the NBC show “America’s Got Talent” from the 2007 series. In the words of Sharon Osborne — one of the judges for the show — “I must say, it was hip, it was modern, fantastic!”
After many years of only being able to see “The Magic of Anthony Reed” on the stage, Reed is now available to perform for exclusive children’s events and private birthday parties on the island of Guam.

Family Fun Fair and Awareness Day
(NMPASI) — The Family Fun Fair and Awareness Day is on May 2, 8 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Minachom Atdau in Susupe, Saipan.
There will be an essay contest titled “My Story: What good mental health means to me and three things I do for myself to feel better when I feel unhappy.”
This contest is open to everyone in the commonwealth.
An entry must be less than two pages in length and must be submitted to the office of the Northern Marianas Protection & Advocacy Systems Inc. on Middle Road, Gualo Rai, Saipan, on or before 4 p.m. on April 30.
Entries may be delivered to the NMPASI office, faxed to 235-7275 or e-mailed to [email protected].
Winners will be announced on May 2 at the Family Fun Fair and Awareness Day.
