Detonating unexploded ordnance
(EMO) — A U.S. Navy explosive ordnance disposal detachment team from Guam will detonate WORLD WAR II unexploded ordnance on Farallon De Mendenilla from Sept. 2 to 3, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Due to the danger imposed by this activity, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial is advising the general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators, to stay away from this area during the time and dates indicated.

Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit
(CCAC) — The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture has announced that the annual CNMI Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit opened on Aug. 30 at the Joeten Motors Building in San Jose.
The exhibit features traditional Carolinian and Chamorro crafts as part of the CNMI-wide cultural heritage month celebration in September.
The Arts Pacifica exhibit also features artwork from Micronesia, Polynesia and Melanesia.
The Arts Council and its newest partner, Joeten Motors, aim to continue the efforts of promoting, protecting and preserving local cultures through exhibits and provide an opportunity for public appreciation of the arts and cultures of the Chamorros and Carolinians as well as the those of neighboring cultures.
All interested artists and collectors are encouraged to submit their artwork to the Arts Council office on Capital Hill.
