Ada is MVA’s employee of the quarter

(MVA) — The Marianas Visitors Authority has selected Mr. David V. Ada Jr. as the recipient of the employee of the quarter award.

Ada, an employee of MVA since Feb. 1997, is a statistics specialist for the research division.

He was recognized for his support and assistance in ensuring smooth operation within the division and was recognized for his ability to perform his duties with minimal supervision.

Ada was also recognized to be a team player both within his division as well as with other divisions within MVA.

“As a manager, it makes my job easier to know that I have a division staffed with competent employees,” stated Deputy Managing Director Judy Torres. “Their ability to complete the data collection and generation is important to the MVA and its partners. Dave has displayed initiative to update other statistical information such as flight information, hotel information, historical and statistical data.”

Ada contributes to the preparation of monthly reports that provide important information on the CNMI’s tourism industry. Both the public and private sector use this report locally and internationally.

“The hard work put into his daily tasks provides accurate data, integrity and information on a timely manner,” Torres said.

According to Polly Deleon Guerrero, MVA’s personnel manager, “This is not the first time Mr. Ada has been recognized for this award. He was our employee of the quarter in Aug. 2005 and then our employee of the year in May 2006. As an employee of MVA, he displays a positive attitude and is always willing to help others. This shows that he is a true team player.”

MVA offers an incentive for individual motivation toward providing quality service, increasing productivity, job knowledge and skills.

The program recognizes outstanding performance and employee contribution toward meeting MVA’s goals and objectives.

As the employee of the quarter, Ada received a certificate of recognition, a parking spot and $100.

Red flag raised at 12 Saipan, green flag on Tinian

(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality says water samples collected from San Roque School, Central Repair Shop, DPW Channel Bridge, S. Puerto Rico Dump, Micro Beach, Hafa-Adai Hotel, Hafa-Adai Drainage, Garapan Fishing Dock, Garapan Beach Drainage, Chalan Laulau Beach, Sugar Dock and CK Dist #2 Drainage contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria — enterococci — that exceeded the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.

DEQ has given these locations a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified.

DEQ also collected water samples collected from Tinian’s recreational beaches this week.

None of the samples collected contained excessive concentration of fecal indicator bacteria nor did they exceed the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.

DEQ assigns all of these sampled beach sites a green flag.
