Around the Islands

The color, called Docomo Red, expresses the dynamic, innovative nature of mobile communications while the clean, basic design represents Docomo Pacific’s goal to connect with the broadest spectrum of customers and consumers.

In addition, the friendly, modern design using lower-case text evokes a human connection and a sense of the future. It also reflects the need for simplicity with a human touch in our relationship with customers.

Moving forward, both Guamcell and Saipancell Communications will utilize identical brands to market products and services on Guam and the Northern Marianas.

Started in 1991 with only five employees, Guamcell Communications is now  Guam’s  leading provider in mobile communications services. A year later in 1992, Saipancell Communications was formed on Saipan. Today, both companies have grown to a total of almost 200 employees with approximately 26 employees at Saipancell Communications.  There are currently five retail outlets on Guam and two in Saipan.

A wholly owned subsidiary of telecom giant, NTT Docomo, Guamcell Communications, Saipancell Communications and Hafatel (Guam) were acquired in Dec. 2006.

This acquisition enabled NTT Docomo to provide better service for the large number of travelers, mainly from Japan who visit Guam and the Northern Mariana Island, and to also share NTT Docomo’s world-leading technology with the region.  Today’s concurrent introduction of Saipancell’s rebranding and its Max brand on Saipan is in line with NTT Docomo’s commitment to enhancing quality and services of mobile communications to Saipan and the region.
