He said latest figures, reported by the CNMI government to the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, indicate the Northern Marianas has been awarded $115 million and created or maintained 531 jobs as of March 31, 2011.
About $50 million has been expended so far on projects as diverse as engine retrofits at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and child care support for working parents.
The money has more than a temporary impact, Sablan said.
The Public School System Green schools effort, using ARRA funds, is expected to save PSS millions of dollars in utility costs over the coming years, and weatherization of over 200 homes and rebates on energy efficient appliances the Recovery Act is paying for is giving families real savings on their CUC bills, he added.
