Presiding Judge Robert Naraja placed Robert Cepeda on one year probation.
Cepeda was ordered to pay a $200 fine, a $100 probation fee, a $25 court assessment fee, and restitution whose amount will be determined by the court.
Cepeda will complete 100 hours of community work service, write a letter of apology to his victim, undergo alcohol and drug assessment and to complete whatever treatment is recommended.
He is not to possess or consume alcohol during his probationary period, and will undergo anger management.
Other charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace were dismissed with prejudice as part of the plea agreement.
On April 5, 2001, Cepeda hit his partner with a wooden chair, the prosecution said.
Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Petersburg prosecuted the case, while Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke represented Cepeda.
