Bail lowered for man in ‘ice’ case

The amount represents 10 percent of the original $30,000 bail.

Associate Judge Perry B. Inos required Techur to issue $27,000 in unsecured or appearance bond for the remainder of the required bail.

The proposed third party custodian, the defendant’s cousin, has been found acceptable by the court.

Techur was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing for his motion for bail modification.

Assistant Attorney General Eli Golob represented the government while Bruce Berline served as Techur’s counsel.

Authorities arrested Techur, a Koblerville resident, and Anthony Villanueva, 32, a resident of As Gonno, after buying “ice” from them through a cooperating source on Oct. 7, 2010.

After a phone call, the cooperating source and Techur met in the parking lot of Smile Poker in Chalan Kanoa.

At that time, Techur was inside a maroon Toyota Camry operated by Villanueva who is on pretrial release after issuing $30,000 property bond.

Techur had been arrested in the past for drug-related charges, police said.
