Banfield Foundation veterinary team to host wellness and sick pet consultations with Saipan Humane Society

THE Saipan Humane Society is pleased to welcome Dr. Katie Hayward and Certified Veterinary Technician Emily Lundstrom — visiting from the Banfield Foundation — for a special veterinary clinic running May 14 through 22. SHS offers wellness exams and sick consultations for pet owners across the island.

Dr. Katie Hayward, DVM, is a compassionate veterinarian from Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. With over five years of experience at Banfield Pet Hospital, Dr. Hayward now works in emergency medicine. Her professional interests include surgery, exotic pets, and wildlife medicine, and she is passionate about extending care to remote and under-resourced communities.

Emily Lundstrom, CVT, graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology in 2022 and became certified shortly thereafter. Her passion for veterinary anesthesia and analgesia, discovered during her undergraduate studies, led her to pursue a career in specialty medicine. She has spent three years working in the surgery and anesthesia department at BluePearl Specialty and Emergency Hospital. In 2023, Emily began volunteering with BluePearl Cares and the Banfield Foundation to increase access to veterinary care in underserved areas.

“We are extremely grateful to the Banfield Foundation for sending Dr. Hayward and Emily to Saipan,” said Ruby Ma, clinic director of the Saipan Humane Society. “Their presence fills a critical gap in veterinary access and brings high-quality care to pets who need it most.”

Pet owners are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a general check-up or any health concerns by visiting www.saipanhumanesociety.org/. Limited slots are available between May 14 and 22, so early booking is recommended.
