Baseball coach gets eight-year jail term for sexual abuse

Associate judge David A. Wiseman yesterday imposed a total of 30 years imprisonment on 41-year-old Ramon Camacho San Nicolas, all suspended except for eight years and five years. The sentence will run concurrently, with credit for the two years already served for his one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, and one count of sexual assault in the second degree.

He will be placed on probation and will pay a $5,000 fine for his sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, $1,000 for his sexual assault charges, and $100 in assessment fees.

He will register as a sex offender, submit to HIV testing, write a letter of apology to the victims and serve 500 hours in community work.

San Nicolas appeared in court with his counsel Herbert Soll. The government was represented by Assistant Attorney General Rebecca Warfield.

San Nicolas pleaded guilty to the charges on April 17, 2008.

He was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree for abusing a 12-year-old on May 31, 2006 and June 1, 2006.

San Nicolas was also charged for sexually assaulting and abusing the victim in May 2006.

Based on the police affidavit submitted in court, a neighbor of the victim reported the sexual abuse incident to the police.
