Aerich Roda Chen Ayuyu, the first baby born on Saipan in 2024, received an array of Marpac home and family products, perfect for welcoming the new little one. EVELYN Roda gave birth to the island’s first child of 2024, Aerich Roda Chen Ayuyu, on New Year’s Day, at 9:17 p.m. at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.
Roda told Variety that it was a surprise for her to have a New Year’s Baby, as she was scheduled to give birth on the 17th of January.
“He came early and exactly [on] New Year’s Day,” Roda said. “I’m so overwhelmed…. Best gift ever for 2024.”
Aerich was born 5 pounds, 11.7 ounces, and measured 17.5 inches long.
His name is a combination of his parents’ initials — father Augustin, mother Evelyn — and the word “rich,” Roda said.
She said giving birth to Aerich took about eight hours. Aerich is her second son.
A coffee lover, Roda said when she is finally discharged from the hospital, she’s looking forward to enjoying fresh coffee.
Roda said she is also grateful to Marpac for providing her with some baby products, “perfect for welcoming the new little one.” These included diapers, wipes, and infant formula.
