‘Big Brother’ arrested for ‘ice’ trafficking

Jing Xin Xiao who uses the aliases “Hondan,” “Tasi,” and “Big Brother,” was arrested on Wednesday afternoon on the charge of trafficking and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Department of Public Safety spokesman PO2 Eric David said a total of $1,229.17 was also found in Xiao’s possession, including marked currency, and other paraphernalia.

Court Associate Judge David Wiseman set a $50,000 cash bail and ordered the confiscation of the defendant’s travel documents.

During his initial appearance yesterday, Wiseman retained the original cash bail and remanded Xiao to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Chief Prosecutor Rosemond B.  Santos represented the government while Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke appeared on behalf of Xiao, who was assisted by a translator.

Xiao has been a target of the local drug enforcement task force for nearly three months, according to Detective Steven A. Castro’s affidavit.

Castro said a cooperating defendant told Detectives Roque Camacho and Sean White that Xiao was  selling “ice” in the Papago area.

The cooperating defendant told police that Xiao had sold him $350 worth of “ice” at the defendant’s residence on Bebetna Drive in Papago last month.

Castro said the cooperating defendant had been purchasing “ice” from Xiao for approximately one year and a half, and buying about once or twice every day for a week.

About 1.5 to 2 gross grams were purchased by the cooperating defendant from Xiao, police said.

Castro said Xiao negotiated the drug deal and set the time when the drug transaction would take place, which was always at his Papago residence.

Xiao did not keep all his drugs in the house and the main stash of “ice” was buried in the back of the defendant’s house near some trees, Castro said.

Associate Judge Perry B. Inos authorized an eavesdropping search warrant against Xiao on Wednesday.

On same date, authorities conducted a recorded and controlled buy-walk operation against Xiao who sold $350 worth of “ice.”
