Borja says all his opponents ‘worthy’

Former Lt. Gov. Jesus C. Borja said he and his campaign team will work hard to convince voters why they should vote for him.

“We will make sure we consult with the people and meet as many voters as possible,” he added.

Borja said he has the advantage over the other candidates in terms of experience and profession.

The former Supreme Court justice said none of the other candidates have his experience in  government and in the judiciary.

He is also a former member of the NMI commission on federal laws.

“My dedication to serve the public, I think, is very strong as I have been serving the public since my time with the Micronesian Legal Services Corp. I have a record to show that I am a dedicated servant of the public,” he said.

Borja, if elected, said he will protect the Covenant, the document that established the CNMI’s political relationship with the U.S. government.

“The person who represents the CNMI has to be well aware and well versed in our Covenant to make sure that legislation being passed in the U.S. Congress does not violate the provisions of our Covenant,” he added.

Borja’s opponents are incumbent Congressman Gregorio C. Sablan, Ind.-MP, former Gov. Juan N. Babauta of the Republican Party and former Rep. Joseph N. Camacho of the Covenant Party.
