The velocity and size of the fire forced neighbors to evacuate and one was seen trying to assist firefighters, who responded to the scene 15 minutes after it was reported, put out the flames with his garden hose.
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Ray Mafnas and Fire Chief Thomas Manglona were at the scene and had set up a command post to assist first responders as well as the hazardous materials or hazmat team contain the area.
The fire consumed the entire house, leaving only char and rubble.
The house was rented by contract workers and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
The public was advised of the toxic smoke still rising in the area and to proceed with caution at surrounding roads.
