Burglar placed on probation after serving 6 months

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo ordered the release of Jeremy Sammy on July 12, 2010.

Govendo sentenced Sammy to three years, all suspended except for six months.

Sammy was given credit for time already served since his arrest on Jan. 12, 2010.

Sammy signed a plea agreement, admitting that he committed burglary.

Upon a motion of the Attorney General’s Office, the court dismissed with prejudice the remaining counts of theft, criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit burglary against Sammy.

On Dec. 26, 2009, Sammy, together with Johnny John, and Roges James Sellem, both 23, broke into Jonny’s Bar & Grill, and took assorted beer, hard liquor and a cooler. They also damaged a padlock, a juke box, and an ATM unit.

Sellem is facing one count of theft of vehicle that happened on Christmas Day.

Govendo said Sammy is jointly and severally responsible with his co-defendants in paying restitution to Jonny’s Bar & Grill in an amount to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.

Govendo ordered the forfeiture of all funds and/or contraband found on Sammy at the time of his arrest.

Sammy was required to pay a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office, and a $100 court assessment fee within 30 days.
