“This is a good project for the community,” Glad told Variety, as he expressed confidence that he will get the approval of CNMI regulatory agencies.
T.D. Amusement Inc. headed by Glad submitted its intention to lease a portion of the Garapan Fishing Base to the Department of Public Lands on Aug. 24, 2009.
Glad, who offers carnival rides during Liberation Day celebrations, said Mayor-elect Donald Flores supports his project.
The center will offer video games, snacks, an ice cream machine, bump cars as well as various rides, pool tables, and other fun activities, he said.
On weekends, there will be bingo games in the area, he added.
Glad said T.D. Amusement will market itself as a fun-loving place where local residents can spend time with their children throughout the year.
He said it was Gov. Benigno R. Fitial “who floated the idea.”
T.D. Amusement is proposing to lease 4,500 square meters of public land in and around the fishing base.
Glad said his company will renovate the existing building in the area and construct public toilets.
“Our key objective is to promote a fun-loving atmosphere and place for after-school hours, where children can go after school or during weekends to have fun with other children, parents, and the CNMI community,” he added.
Glad said his company will work with local schools, day-care centers, church-groups, seasonal activities, small corporate events and family reunions.
T.D. focuses on “newness” and the “family-friendly, safe cleanliness” aspect of its facility, he said.
He added that he will also be closely working with the Marianas Visitors Authority and tourist companies.
“The community-family entertainment center industry is currently growing as a result of a stronger economy and increased spending by families on entertainment,” he said.
Glad said his company will ve the only outdoor play center catering specifically to families with young children.
Unlike other facilities, he said, his company will also offer a “strong mix of entertainment and educational value.”
“With today’s tense global situation, parents and families are seeking adventures closer to home and specifically, safe, clean, family fun in a controlled and secure environment,” he said.
