Hoo Joon Joo, the association’s secretary general, provided this newspaper information regarding the 10 Korean nurses who were promised internship at the local hospital by Kim and Sin.
Sin is the general manager of Saipan Times which is published in Korean language.
He recently wrote an article “attacking” the Korean association.
Joo, in an interview, said although Sin did not name him, the publisher was clearly referring to him as the one behind the “conspiracy” to destroy Kim’s business.
Joo said the attack was also directed against the association.
He said Sin’s article likewise criticized the Korean Consulate for listening to Joo regarding the controversy involving the Korean nurses,
Last week, Joo said the association and the consulate were looking into Kim’s scheme of bringing in Korean nurses for a fee in return for an internship at the Commonwealth Health Center.
It turned out, however, that the hospital does not have sanctioned internship program for foreign medical personnel.
The matter was brought to the attention of the Korean Consulate on Guam and the Korean Association when other nurses in Korea called them to inquire about the supposed internship on Saipan.
The 10 Korean nurses who arrived on Saipan separately are now spending more money as they study English here while waiting for a non-existent internship.
Joo quoted Saipan Times as claiming that CHC was actually willing to accept the nurses but changed its mind when Variety reported it.
