Cabrera said his one-year contract started on July 1.
He only received the contract yesterday.
Even after his previous contract expired, he said he continued to work as volunteer for NMC-CREES.
He and other applicants for the job were interviewed by the screening committee under the supervision of NMC-CREES director Ross Manglona.
For his previous contract, Cabrera said they implemented a rodent control program.
“We will continue to provide assistance to ongoing programs,” he added.
As consultant, Cabrera said he will also act as main coordinator with scientists for local agriculture problems.
He said he will be providing technical assistance on agricultural problems on Saipan, Rota and Tinian.
