He commended USCIS for providing relief to individuals who are financially incapable for applying for immigration benefits.
USCIS published this month a notice in the Federal Register seeking public comment on the proposed form, called Form I-912, or the Request for Individual Fee Waiver.
Syed encouraged members of the community, especially the immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, to submit their comments at www.regulations.gov. The comment period closes on Sept. 13, 2010.
Syed said their group is also asking the federal government to waive the poverty line requirement in the CNMI where the minimum wage is only $4.55 per hour.
