He told Babauta about the council’s program that aims to help jobless locals.
He said the council has embraced the idea of helping the Department of Labor seek and find employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed local residents of Saipan, particularly the youth.
In his letter dated Jan. 11 to the DPL secretary, Camacho asked if the department can request companies that lease public lands to hire local residents.
“As you know, the council initiative has successfully placed a local resident on the job at Coral Ocean Point last year. We will be placing another local resident at Ericco soon,” Camacho said.
He told Babauta the council will continue to serve the Saipan community, especially to the unemployed and underemployed youth of Saipan, with the cooperation of the Department of Labor.
With the help of DPL, Camacho said they can help more local residents find private sector jobs.
