Camacho said he will invite Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo and CNMI Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan to the general assembly of the Association of Mariana Islands Mayors, Vice Mayors and Municipal Council Members, or AMIM, this month.
He said it is important that both delegates will talk with the municipal officials of Guam and the CNMI regarding the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008, also called the Farm Bill, which has a program that can provide relief to farmers and ranchers.
Camacho is the prime mover of the Farmers Group on Saipan.
The AMIM is scheduled to meet on Nov. 19 and 20 on Rota.
Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola is the current president of the association. Camacho is its sgt.-at-arms.
Camacho said the association is expected to discuss the role municipal governments can play in the military buildup.
One of AMIM’s programs is a scholarship fund.
Camacho said he will recommend that the Northern Marianas Trades Institute receive some of the funds to defray the cost of registration and other requirements of eligible students.
He said the institute should come up with guidelines to determine who can avail of the scholarship program.
