He met the four workers yesterday at PIC and commended them for their performance.
“It is very encouraging to see local residents to have this kind of skills and the courage to learn to work,” he said.
Camacho has been visiting business establishment to help local workers find jobs. He is also encouraging and commending local residents who are already employed in the private sector.
He said Joshua Ngeskebei, Chuzi Rios, Gilbert Cabrera and Randolf Ferrer, who work for PIC’s restaurant, prove that local residents are capable of doing skilled work.
PIC executive chef Akbar Habib, who supervises the four, said they started without formal experience but they were willing to learn.
Habib said he started working at PIC three months ago but he already saw the potentials of the local workers to excel in their field.
“I always encourage them to improve and gain knowledge about their work,” he said, adding that the four workers have a “good heart and good attendance.”
He added, “I’m always happy to work with them.”
Camacho is hoping the business community will not discourage local applicants who have no experience.
Management, he said, can always train local workers.
Habib said PIC will soon introduce a local island-style dinner menu every Saturday.
He said the knowledge of the local workers about local dishes helped a lot in the preparation of the dishes.
Cabrera, who is now in his second year with PIC, said they were very proud and happy with the new menu, which is called “Flavor Island of Saipan.”
He noted that they have a good relationship with their fellow PIC employees, regardless of ethnic backgrounds.
“We learn something new every day and we always work with our heart,” he said.
Rios encouraged other local residents to apply for private sector jobs.
Habib said he is always willing to train more local workers.
