Dr. Florian Braig, in an interview yesterday, said he filed his resignation a week ago and has shut down his clinic at CHC.
Braig said the reason for his resignation was personal, adding that “it just always comes down to that.”
He said he has already been on terminal leave since his resignation last week, which he expected to take effect last Monday.
Braig said he plans to leave the island.
Public Health Medical Director Richard Brostrom, in a separate interview, said he heard about Braig’s decision but he has not seen any paperwork about it.
Acting Public Health Secretary Pete Untalan did not reply to the Variety’s e-mail.
Braig is not the first doctor to leave CHC this year. Dr. Mike Thomas and internist Sharma resigned a few months and, like Braig, their reason was “personal” too.
Braig was among the hospital officials who told lawmakers recently that CHC was practicing something “that is not ideal,” referring to the hemodialysis treatment carried out over the telephone by a doctor from Guam.
